A crankshaft is a shaft bent, with elbows and balances present in certain machines that, applying the principle of mechanism crank - crank , transform the linear motion into rotary alternative and vice versa. The end of the rod opposite the piston pin (big end) connects to the stud, which together with the force exerted by the piston on other end (connecting rod) generates the instantaneous torque. The crankshaft is clamped on the supports, being the axis that joins the motor shaft supports.
